which held exhibitions for its members. He also painted in Boston and lived in Dorset Vermont ,
he traveled West and painted Southwest landscapes including the Grand Canyon and Indian figures.

A resident of Dorset, Vermont, Elsa Bley became a painter and the founder and director of the Scarsdale Art Guild, 1934-1945. From 1951 to 1958 and 1963-1965, she was a teacher at the Southern Vermont Art Center. Bley studied at the Art Students League and the Grand Central School of Art in New York City. She was also a student of George Luks, George Pearse Ennis, Wayman and Henry B Snell. She was a member of the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Scarsdale Art Association, and the National Arts Club. Bley is listed in every major art reference including; Falks Who's Who in American Art, Hastings Who Was Who in American Art, The Artists Bluebook, Collins Women Artists in America, Mallets Index of Artists, and she is represented in many major American museums and collections.

Frank Howard is a living Vermont painter from Shaftsbury.
His early work - such as this one -- is especially good.
There is little of it left on the market.
Howard graduated from high school in Bennington in 1942.
He studied briefly at art school, then came home to work
on his family farm (it was war time), where he has stayed
ever since. He also participated in painting workshops
that were held in the summer in Pownal, and a good
deal of his early work is from this area.
